Real Beauty Solutions

In an ideal world, you won’t have to deal with pesky skincare and beauty problems such as pimples, blackheads, wrinkles, frown lines, laugh lines, smeared mascara, lipstick on your teeth…and the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, in our real world, looking good doesn’t come for free. But don’t think that you have to go to incredible lengths just to score model-worthy looks. Below are some of the more common beauty conundrums all bellas face and the nifty solutions to fix them.

The problem:
Your eyeliner smears and gives you that so-not-attractive raccoon look.
The solution: Dab your eyelids with loose powder before applying eyeliner. Your eyelids, just like the rest of your face, will tend to become oily as the day (or night) progresses. So, control the oil by dusting your lids with loose powder—trust us, your eyeliner won’t smear after that.

The problem:
You normally have clear skin, but once that time of the month rolls around, you see a tell-tale hint of a zit on your T-zone.
The solution: The T-zone is the area of your face that is most prone to oiliness and thus, breakouts. But don’t freak out when that happens. Lay off your usual skincare regimen and simply cleanse your face, apply moisturizer on the clear areas of your skin, and apply a pimple-fighting ointment or a dab of tea tree oil to zap that zit. In just a few days, it’ll clear up. So, relax. Use concealer if the sight of your pimple bothers you, but otherwise, the best thing you can do is lay off on the beauty products and leave that part alone.

The problem:
You have a bad habit of biting your lips and that means your pucker is always chapped.
The solution: Unless you plan to religiously stop your lip-biting habit, the next best thing you can do is to always smooth on lip balm at night—that’s when your lips get to rest and recover from all the “trauma” you’re putting on it. And before you head out of the house in the morning, do remember to use lip balm—we like the ones with SPF, since the condition of your chapped lips make them more prone to drying and sun damage.

The problem: Try as you might, those annoying signs of aging are starting to show.
The solution: The reality is that you cannot stop the signs of aging, but you can slow them down. Be extra vigilant with your skincare and examine your habits. Do you have a habit of sleeping on your side? Think about it: maybe your sleeping position is actually the culprit. If that’s the case, then maybe you should try sleeping on your back, and use an extra-strength anti-wrinkle cream to augment your “protection”.
